On This Day In Music

Updated: May 13, 2023

It’s Friday! Phoenix Mixtapes is here with our weekly post, On this day in music. This week we feature an iconic Brit pop band that inspired a whole new culture that stemmed across nearly two decades. On this day in 2002, Oasis went to number one in the UK singles chart with Hindu Times. A classic and iconic song, with slight psychedelic rock undertones. The song actually had no connection to the title Hindu times, Noel actually named it before it was created. It was also almost used during the march of the nations in the London 2012 olympics, but because the ceremony ended up being a lot shorter, this idea was abandoned. I’ve still got my copy of this great single, and though I loved Oasis, I also loved Blur….shhh!🤫 #thehindutimes #oasis #britpop #onthisday #memorylane #shopsmallbusiness #phoenixmixtapes #nostalgia #awesome #music #rock
